Actually, at this point the page would more appropriately be titled, About Me, Jim, the President and chief bottle washer of Jakaub's Market.
So, why would a guy in his late forties, with a full time job, start his own e-business. Two reasons, really.
First, I've spent most of my adult life working in, or around, retail businesses. Some were large, multi-state organizations, others were tiny start-ups. But here's the thing, no matter how large, no matter how profitable, there was always room for improvement. And change is never an easy thing to bring about when you're confronting either pride or an entrenched bureaucracy. So, I decided to start my own company, start small, learn from my mistakes, and focus relentlessly on providing a quality shopping experience for my customers, and hopefully, a great place to work for any future employees.
Second, I love good food. Although at this point I'm only a mediocre cook I fully appreciate a quality dish. The companies I work with provide top notch, affordable products you're not likely to find in your local supermarket. At this point I'm focusing on what I know, Tampa Bay, but with time will expand to include items from other parts of the country and around the world.
